| Central American Trade Disputes
- Nicaragua |
 |
The
Central American market is an important destination for many
of the companies established in Costa Rica. Intra
regional trade is greatly facilitated by the Central American
Common Market treaties and regulations. However,
Trade disputes generated by the unilateral imposition of tariff
and non-tariff trade barriers to Costa Rican exports are not
unusual.
The Firm has offered advice and solutions to many enterprises
facing this kind of problem, advocating before the relevant
authorities, coordinating legal action and other means to
obtain redress against undue governmental acts, and negotiating
reasonable use of trade restrictions. Our Firm has had particularly
extensive experience in defending Costa Rican exporters against
Nicaraguan trade barriers on food products and construction
materials.
